Nerjis Asif Shakir shoots almost all the things I shot , first she was scared of shooting the idols being sculpted at my friend Chintans workshop at Bandra SV Road ,,but than I explained to her got rid of her fear and encouraged by the artisans she began shooting them and with a smile on her face.
I had a gift I shared this holistic gift of photography that I got very late in Life with my granddkids ,, I could not teach them many things but the camera was a gift of life .. capturing time and space ,
I also wanted my grandkids to be aware of diverse religions culture and be respectful.. I was lucky very lucky I had parents who made sure that I respected humanity much before I knew the meaning of God .. this was our inheritance that they bequeathed to my brothers sisters and their grandkids .. its the same gift I am passing on to my grandkids ,,,
So I found the camera to be one of the best textbooks to teach my grandchildren the poetry of life ... Nerjis has shot almost all the Hindu feasts , Christian feasts in and around Bandra .
The only sad part is that they will never shoot their own religiosity during Ashura Chehlum as I shoot all this far away from home and Mumbai.
In a way I am happy too as they wont ever be touched by bigots spiritual racists in my own community .
